‘sonic motion’ is an interactive installation of bamboo, rope, and electronics, created by clea jentsch, meret vollenweider, kyungmin han, and christian ferrara. the project was made to participate in soundobject, a collaborative show between students in the experience design and design products programs at RCA, and home sound company sonos. ‘sonic motion’ uses its bamboo structure — and accompanying software — to transmit sound via movement. as people jump, climb, or move through the installation, the bamboo works collectively as an antenna to create a live record of activity, and provide instant sonic feedback.
