as a tribute to the land rover defender which is set to cease production in december 2015, british fashion designer paul smith collaborates with land rover’s special vehicle operations division and chief creative officer gerry mcgovern to produce a one-off edition. decorated in a palette of 27 individual colors, the car pays homage to its service history with the army, navy and airforce, as well as its recognizable ties to the UK countryside. matching the fashion brand’s style, it is a typically vibrant version and was unveiled at their flagship store on london mayfair’s albemarle street.

‘I wanted deep, rich colors, but at the same time, I wanted them to work together yet be surprising’, says paul smith.

‘I wanted to give this defender a feeling of luxury. so I used a mix of leather and fabric for the seats. I actually used the fabric that I design for maharam, the american upholstery company. my designs are known for their attention to detail, so I didn’t want this defender to be any different.’ added paul.
