cyclists know, the stem is one of the most important parts of any bicycle. it’s the component that connects the handlebars to the steerer tube of the bicycle fork. sometimes called a goose neck, a stem’s design belongs to either a quill or threadless system, and each system is compatible with respective headset and fork designs. CW&T designed a rugged stem that also includes a brake lever, for cyclists who want their urban bikes to look minimal and less distracting. made of a solid chunk of machined aluminum, the stem is shaped with sharp edges, and corners. a basic cabled bike lever is located just below the handlebar fitting, and is easily accessible with one hand. the CW&T ‘blockhead stem ib’ is kept together with six stainless steel screws, with a zero degree rise. some would say, this isn’t the safest option for braking, but who cares, it’ll look great on any fixie.
