Iran-based architect Tayebeh Amini reveals Border House, an introverted concrete residence that revolves around a tree. Reflecting the architect’s personal spirit, the house features open interior spaces that connect with nature, despite its calm, enclosed exterior. The arrangement unravels around the central tree which functions as a second courtyard, guiding the spatial flow from the ground up to the roof. Curved forms and circular openings introduce light to the interior and connect it to the surrounding landscape.

experiencing tranquility while being in touch with nature
Tayebeh Amini places the relationship between the indoor and outdoor environments at the heart of the design, with natural elements, such as the tree, playing a pivotal role in shaping the experience of the Border House. The progression through the house is fluid, offering openness within an otherwise minimalist, concrete structure. While the layout transitions from public to private areas, the Iran-based architect blurs boundaries to allow flexibility and adaptability. This composition allows the residents to experience tranquility without being completely cut off from nature.
