matthieu blazy opens his chanel era under a galaxy of planets

Matthieu Blazy marks his first collection for Chanel with a dreamlike exploration of the cosmos, transforming Paris’s Grand Palais into an interplanetary fashion show. For Chanel Spring Summer 2026, Bureau Betak hangs a constellation of oversized planets above a reflective runway, casting shifting light across the space. The celestial installation becomes a metaphor and a landscape, a universe where Gabrielle Chanel’s enduring codes are reimagined through a lens of universality.

Blazy channels the masculine-feminine duality so intrinsic to Gabrielle’s own style through fluid tailoring, houndstooth fabrics, and silhouettes that move with ease. ‘For this first Chanel show, I wanted to do something quite universal, like a dream, something outside of time,’ Blazy explains. We all observe the same sky, and I think it provokes the same emotions in us.’

The Grand Palais show Becomes a Mirror to the Cosmos

Under Bureau Betak’s canopy of stars, the collection extends Gabrielle Chanel’s fascination with astrology and her belief in destiny. ‘I love everything that is above: the sky, the moon, I believe in the stars,’ she once said. Here, her words take physical form. The mirrored floor reflects the orbiting planets above, immersing the audience in a vast, luminous universe that feels infinite.

The show unfolds across eras, united by a shared vision of freedom and modernity. Tweed, jersey, and silk, signature materials of the French house, appear reworked and restructured, their textures softened, their architecture laid bare. Through this cosmic staging, Blazy’s collection proposes a kind of universal dress that transcends time, geography, and singular identity.
