baccarat is known for its expertise in crystal glassware, and since the mid-19th century has been making their mark in the history of chandeliers. drawing on their strong rooted traditions, the french company refines its repertoire through the use of new technologies, translating the language of the past into something contemporary in collaboration with some of the world’s most renowned designers: fernando & humberto campana, louise campbell, jean-marc gady, jaime hayon, arik levy, philippe nigro and philippe starck–and students of the lausanne art school and ECAL–to form the 2013 collection. on the occasion of the milan design week 2013, the glass crystal manufacturer presented ‘baccarat highlights’–an exhibition which celebrated the french art de vivre–at palazzo morando, presenting the outcome of their cooperation with these creatives.

baccarat has sent designboom an exclusive video which offers views of the exhibition’s overall scenography, where the pieces were displayed against a backdrop depicting scenes from the city of light–from the eiffel tower, to dawn setting over the paris opera–highlighting the brightness, sparkle and pure craftsmanship that they express.
