The AAMG Global Vertiport Design Competition is an international architecture and infrastructure competition initiated by the Ambitious Air Mobility Group (AAMG). The competition addresses one of the central challenges of Advanced Air Mobility: the design of future-ready vertiport infrastructure for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Participants are invited to develop modular, scalable, and operationally realistic vertiport concepts that can support early AAM operations and grow into full passenger hubs over time. The competition explicitly bridges architecture, aviation operations, engineering, and urban integration, with a strong emphasis on real-world feasibility rather than purely speculative design.
The initial geographic focus is Europe, with Spain (including Málaga and the Costa del Sol) serving as a reference region. However, submissions are expected to be transferable to other international contexts, and winning concepts may be adapted for future projects in additional regions.
Designs are evaluated by an international, interdisciplinary jury composed of experts from architecture, aviation, engineering, and the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem. Submissions are assessed on architectural quality, scalability, operational logic, sustainability, and community compatibility (including noise, visual impact, and land use).
Selected winners receive monetary awards, global visibility through AAMG’s international network, and the opportunity to collaborate with AAMG on real vertiport development projects, potentially leading to commissioned work.
The competition is positioned not only as a design challenge, but as a gateway into the emerging global AAM infrastructure market.
