How can the design of interactive systems, products, and services help people navigate constantly evolving technologies and use them more consciously?
In a world where digital platforms, smart devices, and emerging technologies are shaping all aspects of people’s daily lives, designers emerge as bridges between people and the technological systems around them. The Master of Arts in Interaction Design: Emerging Technologies for Products and Services at IED Torino is a two‑year programme that prepares the next generation of designers to imagine and build these bridges with clarity, consciousness, creativity, and purpose.
Interaction Design plays a key role in this complex landscape by shaping the points of contact between humans and technologies, making often invisible yet crucial systems understandable and accessible, and translating innovation into useful, sustainable, and socially valuable experiences.
This course trains students to design interactions, crafting interfaces, products, and services that make complex technologies accessible, responsible, and genuinely useful. As part of IED’s DesignXCommons vision, the Master’s encourages an approach where technology is understood, questioned, and shaped with care.
Through an experimental and interdisciplinary approach mixing user experience, ethnographic research, digital sociology, rapid prototyping, and generative AI, students develop both critical and hands‑on skills. They learn to design ecosystems where people, environments, data, and platforms work together, contributing to more sustainable, social, and human‑centred futures.
The programme welcomes graduates from Design, Architecture, Engineering, Social Sciences, or related fields who want to develop the ability to balance research, strategy, and prototyping, learning to coordinate multidisciplinary processes that foster collaboration among developers, researchers, companies, and communities.
