ROYAL ENFIELD REIMAGINES CITY TRAVEL WITH ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE

During Paris Design Week 2026 Royal Enfield invited designboom for a test drive event of the Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle, presenting its vision of a lightweight, design-driven alternative to conventional motorbikes to Europe. Developed under the sub-brand Flying Flea, the vehicle strips away the complex mechanics, offering an intuitive riding experience that invites a new generation of urban riders to transition from electric bicycles and shared micro-mobility options into the realm of full-fledged electric travel.

‘The idea for the Flying Flea C6 grew directly out of watching people navigate cities on Lime bikes and asking, “Why wouldn’t they love a proper motorcycle?” For us, that’s an essential new audience. It’s a segment that hasn’t been spoken to enough, because no one has given them a compelling reason to make the leap,’ explains Mohit Dhar Jayal, Chief Brand Officer at Royal Enfield, directly to designboom.

FLYING FLEA HAS LANDED IN EUROPE

As the Flying Flea C6 rolls into European cities from Barcelona, Rome, Berlin and London, its arrival offers more than just a new commuting option — it introduces a vehicle specifically tailored to the dense, evolving geography of modern European capitals. At a compelling price point of 5990 euros, Flying Flea C6 draws from 125 years of production history, Royal Enfield created Flying Flea as an independent, forward-thinking sub-brand dedicated entirely to electric exploration. Developed by a team of over 200 designers and engineers across technical hubs in India and the UK, the Flying Flea C6 reflects a deep investment in original engineering and long-term research. This thoughtful balance of historic legacy and future technology has already earned the vehicle major international recognitions, including the Red Dot Award 2025 in the Design Concept category, the Good Design Award 2025, and the iF Design Award 2026.

Instead of replacing urban culture, the vehicle is designed to blend into it. ‘When you look at cities, you see that they’ve all got old bones, but a new soul,’ notes Dhar Jayal during the Paris event. ‘We use the same principle. Bridging the gap between the old and the new is something we pride ourselves on.’

Future-forward technology paired with timeless design ethos

The physical design of the Flying Flea C6 pays homage to classic 1940s wartime machinery through a modern lens, featuring a forged aluminum front suspension and exoskeleton frame that give the vehicle a striking, sculpted silhouette. At its center, the cooling fins framing the battery twist and turn from dynamic front elements into subtle rear forms, meeting in a central wing-like shape.

The vehicle is available in three carefully considered colorways: Flea Green, a classic tone referencing the original historic model; Storm Black, combining glossy and matte surfaces for urban contrast; and Parachute White, inspired by lightweight parachute textiles and fashion-forward aesthetics.

‘The battery box and the new Parachute White are elements we are particularly proud of,’ shares the Flying Flea design team. ‘There are people within the segment who want something that is even more of a standout — people who look for that extra bit of refinement in aesthetics.’

The human-centered experience is rounded out by a classic round touchscreen, physical joystick controls, an intuitive dial for changing ride feel, and customizable seating setups. Powering the experience is custom connected software that links directly to a companion smartphone app. The system learns rider preferences over time, receives continuous improvements wirelessly, and lets users manage charging routines directly from their phone, plugging seamlessly into standard home wall outlets to make daily charging effortless.
