5 Chome 4-1 Ginza, Tokyo

A pink star made from intersecting beams of light changes the atmosphere of Hermès Maison Ginza Le Forum in Ann Veronica Janssens’s first solo exhibition in Japan. Titled after the gallery’s street address, 5 Chome 4-1 Ginza, Tokyo brings together around a dozen works that respond to the space and the visitor’s perception of it.

The selection includes Rose, formed from seven spotlights, and Swing, whose seat is sensitive to temperature. Across the exhibition, Janssens introduces subtle changes in light and physical sensation, drawing attention to the conditions through which a room is experienced. Curated by Reiko Setsuda, the presentation takes a retrospective view of her practice.
