wheeled pencil cabinet’s yellow and pink drawers draw from armenian volcanic stone heritage
shushana khachatrian of studio shoo designs the tuff pencil cabinet, a colorful, wheeled storage piece inspired by yerevan’s pink volcanic tuff and the chalk drawings found on its porous surfaces.
[FEATURED]
A mobile pencil cabinet draws on Yerevan’s pink volcanic tuff
Designed by Shushana Khachatrian of STUDIO SHOO, the TUFF Pencil Cabinet draws on the pink volcanic tuff stone that defines Yerevan’s architectural identity. The design also references chalk drawings, handwritten names, and simple motifs often found on the stone’s porous surfaces, translating the city’s architectural heritage and everyday street culture into mobile storage for creative tools.

Two colorways offer different storage configurations
Available in yellow and pink, the cabinet by STUDIO SHOO comes in two configurations. The yellow version features a single tier with a top-opening drawer, while the pink version has two tiers, combining a top-opening drawer with a pull-out lower drawer. The upper drawer of the pink model can also function as an occasional coffee table.

Wheeled storage adapts to everyday creative activities
Both versions are fitted with wheels, allowing them to move between spaces and accommodate different activities. Through its color palette, compact form, and adaptable storage, the TUFF Pencil Cabinet by STUDIO SHOO connects a reference to Yerevan’s built environment with the practical needs of everyday creative work.
