how light and materiality shape spaces in EDRA MAGAZINE issue six
the sixth issue draws a parallel between the way light shapes spaces, brings them to life and changes their atmosphere, and the ability of furniture to do the same.

The philosopher and writer Ralph Waldo Emerson suggested that getting to know someone meant looking at their books. The ones they read, leaf through and display in their homes as a reflection of their interests. The volumes they have chosen to open their minds to the light of knowledge.
Light is precisely the subject of the sixth issue of Edra MAGAZINE. In its latest edition, this magazine, which feels closer to a reference book than a brand catalog, draws a parallel between the way light shapes spaces, brings them to life and changes their atmosphere, and the ability of furniture to do the same.

Why light is central to Edra Magazine Issue No. 6
Throughout its history, Italian design brand Edra has used light both as an inspiration for its furniture and as a tool in its design process. The yarns, polycarbonate, crystals, mirrors and metals in its collections absorb, reflect and multiply light, directly affecting how we perceive the colors and depth of spaces. This ongoing relationship, together with an exploration of how the behavior of light determines our perception of places, explains why the sixth issue of Edra’s printed magazine is dedicated to this vital element.

Across its pages, the volume, with editorial curation by Laura Arrighi and graphic design and photography direction by Stefano Pasqualetti, offers readers a collection of architectural spaces. Here, light and Edra furniture convey meaning and help define the character of each setting. The magazine further broadens its exploration of light by featuring contributions from Jacopo Foggini and Francesco Binfaré, alongside essays by Pierluigi Masini on art and Silvana Annicchiarico on light and the Edra collection.
Contributions from writers Patrizia Piccinini, Chiara Pasqualetti Johnson and Jasmin Jouhar, alongside architect and designer Chiara Tassano, complete the publication. It is conceived to encourage reflection, serve as a lasting reference and even take pride of place on a coffee table or bookshelf.

Inspiring spaces in Edra Magazine Issue No. 6
A section of the magazine presents carefully photographed examples of real spaces. The publication’s two central elements take the lead: light and Edra furniture.
We begin at Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens, where crystal transforms light in a new version of the wunderkammer. We then travel to Ca’ del Bosco, a winery in Franciacorta where light radiating from glass bottles illuminates the large dome. Our next stop is the Italian Embassy in Berlin, where natural light fills the interiors and Edra furniture adds a contemporary dimension.

Turning to residential architecture, the magazine features three homes. One in Saint-Tropez, where the connection between indoors and outdoors offers a reference for projects closely connected to nature; a country house in Ostuni, built in stone, whose white walls sit in dialogue with the surrounding olive trees; and a Brutalist villa in Ibiza, where the severity of concrete contrasts with the seascape beyond.

Edra milestones in its latest magazine
The magazine then revisits Edra’s presence at Casa Italia Milano Cortina 2026 as Official Partner of CONI. The collaboration began in 2016.
The brand’s cultural dimension finds expression in the Edra Evening of Honour at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, dedicated to the Campana Brothers. Held on April 23, 2026, the event created an ethereal, suspended world on the historic stage, where music, dance and Edra furniture came together in an artistic performance.

Finally, the magazine reviews the latest initiatives at Edra Palazzo Durini in Milan and in the surrounding area. Here, Edra’s collaborators take center stage through their exhibitions, publications and reflections.

The light of inspiration in Edra Magazine Issue No. 6
Conceived as a printed publication and intended to become a permanent resident on the bookshelves of design enthusiasts around the world, this issue establishes a kind of metaphor. While we often associate light with the flame of knowledge and inspiration, here it is captured within the pages and the spaces they depict.
Light is a tool in artisanal production and works alongside Edra furniture to shape atmospheres and define places. Beyond the pages, this publication casts that light back toward the architects , designers and crafters who will create tomorrow’s collections.
