borosilicate drinking glass creates optical illusion of liquid melting into table
originally launched in clear borosilicate glass and now available in pink and burnt yellow, the melt glass features an outward-rounded base that creates the optical illusion of liquid melting directly into the table surface.
prefer designboom on googleoutward-rounded glass base creates subtle optical distortion
Designed by Federico Fontanella for Milan-based brand TRAGA, the Melt Glass reinterprets the standard drinking glass through subtle optical distortion. Its outward-rounded base alters the appearance of the liquid inside, creating the impression that the glass is slowly melting into the surface beneath it. The 300 ml vessel sits somewhere between a familiar tumbler and a small sculptural object. The shape originated from TRAGA’s own visual identity. The curvature at the base borrows from the forms found in the brand’s logo, translating a two-dimensional graphic element into a functional three-dimensional detail.

SCULPTURAL DRINKING GLASS takes on NEW COLORWAY TONALITIES
Originally released in transparent borosilicate glass, Melt now takes on two contrasting tones. Pink gives the form a softer, more playful presence, while Burnt Yellow creates a warmer and more graphic expression. The new colorways are accompanied by an editorial photography series by Agata Eliseeva, exploring the transparency, color, and sculptural qualities of the collection.
Melt Glass is made from lightweight, temperature-resistant, and recyclable borosilicate glass. Designed by Federico Fontanella for everyday use, it is suitable for water, juice, whisky, cocktails and hot drinks. Founded by Daniel Nikolovski, TRAGA approaches familiar domestic objects through small but unexpected interventions, with influences ranging from Milanese design culture to the Brutalist architecture of Nikolovski’s native Skopje.
