kayac’s ‘encountMe’ app for iPhone

a networking tool designed for on-the-go encounters, kayac‘s free ‘encountMe‘ iPhone application lets users connect with one another when they are in the same physical geographic area.

the application permits attendees of business and social gatherings to efficiently exchange contact information, although the creators of ‘encountMe’ also foresee its use as a kind of ‘walking billboard’ of self-promotion and advertising.

users set up a publicly viewable profile, composed of an image, job description, and ‘notes’ section where users can post additional information about themselves.

the phone keeps track of all the people you have ‘encountered’, and users can access a google maps interface to visualize where and when they have crossed paths with a particular person.
