SOL solar powered laptop runs on ubuntu
SOL, the solar powered (and also waterproof) laptop by canadian telecommunications company WeWi, was conceived to serve those living in areas off-the-grid, with the aim to enhance education in developing countries (though also useful for outdoor adventurers who find themselves in remote places without access to electricity!). the portable device comes is set to come equipped with all of the creativity and productivity tools you need, and runs on an ubuntu linux operating system. the back of the screen display unfolds and opens up to expose the solar panels which absorb the suns energy to power the notebook. the computer’s architecture has been designed to work so that the battery can run between 8-10 hours on a single charge, which lasts approximately 2 hours. stay tuned for updates!
the rugged design allows the laptop to stand up to all types of conditions
