spanish practice cerrejón hidalgo arquitectos has collaborated with magén arquitectos to complete the ‘stadium casablanca’, a recreational facility located zaragoza, spain. wrapping a central square, a series of existing structures and an additional clubhouse dedicated to the establishment’s social functions are interconnected with communal spaces and terraces. stairs cut into the descending terrain below an elevated volume, which hovers above the site’s network of corridors, providing unobstructed vistas of the extensive pine groves. adjacent to the imperial canal of aragon, the encompassing ten hectare grounds contain multiple tennis courts and sports fields within close proximity to the focal restaurant and bar.

discreetly supported with columns, the rectangular platform provides visitors within the dining area with a raised perspective of the dynamic activity and natural surroundings. the structural ribs of the facade filter away direct daylight while the ribbon skylights introduce ambient light. the exterior’s undulating aluminum panels transitions to the interior with extruded and folded wooden surfaces.
