JSa arquitectura builds luxury resort on mexican coast

javier sanchez arquitectura (JSa arquitectura) has constructed a residential and hospitality complex in ixtapa, mexico. situated by the coast, 6 kilometers north of zihuatanejo, ‘punta ixtapa’ showcases stunning views of the pacific ocean. the four hotel towers are home to 102 apartments, with a total area of 28,860 sq meters. the program of these buildings includes two swim clubs-with six pools in total, three paddle courts, and two tennis courts. each of the four structures has a symmetrical plan from the origin of an entryway, however different distribution layouts of the rooms define the range of accommodations from 270-460 sq meters.

integration into the surrounding landscape was important in the project design, and transparency was an overarching theme in the apartments. the floor plans in the dwellings use the living room as a central axis to provide a 360-degree panorama of ocean to forest views, with visual continuity of indoor and outdoor spaces. the ‘punta ixtapa’ resort is notable in its location as it resides in the steady developing land of mexico’s most exclusive beach.
