tokyo-based practice jun’ichi ito architect & associates have completed the ‘TSR building’, an office building and mental health clinic in downtown tokyo, japan. a warm interior ambiance with rounded corners, eliminates the distinct separation between spaces. the fragmented facade evokes rippling water with ceramic fritting for solar control while reflecting snapshots of the urban landscape. bound by a small and existing corner building, the precast and prestressed concrete structure opens to two different streets.

two ground levels are reserved for the clinic while the 3rd through 7th floors contain leasable spaces. the interior is comprised of walls surfaced with wood panels and exposed concrete beams. projecting above the glass elevation, the 8th level clubhouse is encased within folded mesh panels. the structural system appears monolithic from the walls to the ceiling and is visible to express the level as the highest point within the highrise.
