designed by marseille-based rémy marciano architects, the hotel B+B is constructed as a type of urban cliff. the building is part of yves lion’s, ‘parc habité’ – a project situated in the ‘euroméditerrannée’ area in marseille, where the multifaceted exterior plays with different layers of transparencies, reflecting the varied architectural elements within its context. these mixed urban surroundings also influenced the layout of the structure, which is contained by a garden on its ground floor. the extruded window geometry was based on the concept of vegetable bulbs, as if growing out of a porous mineral surface.
