transforming the ‘alcobendas greenhouse’ into a giant red rock, spanish studio tremillimetri has envisioned a garden oasis inside. located in madrid, the proposal for a new market is based around crafting a series of contrasting forms and spaces. the strength of the exterior structure is offset by an image of lightness, as the cement folds and departs from the ground to reveal a natural world growing within. the central volume is connected to the market activity that surrounds it, making the old greenhouse serve as the heart of the new development. merging the public and private into one, the lively garden offers an intensive and at the same time quiet place to congregate.
