navin rawanchaikui, a thai artist of indian descent, has organized a collaborative two-dimensional work entitled ‘navinland needs you: we are asia!’ for art stage singapore 2012 presented with yavuz fine art. the massive work was completed by a collaborative effort by hundreds of asian artists exploring the notion of borderless nationhood. influential contemporary artists such as ai weiwei, liu xiadong, zhang huan, takashi murakami, yoshitomo nara, luo brothers, feng zhenjie, kim sooja, rikrit tiravanija and shilpa gupta, among many others, contributed to the commissioned painting installation. this mural is the first publicized representation of navinland, the burgeoning non-nation.

navinland was first recognized in the global arena at the venice biennale in june of 2011. individuals including the commonwealth of navins and friends of navinland formed the declaration of navinland as chairman navin and the founding fathers signed this proclamation at this art event. in the ‘navinland needs you: we are asia!’ project, rawanchaikui and the numerous contributors to the great work seek to investigate the recent successes of asian art in the global market and the effect of these events upon the direction of navinland’s growth as a non-nation.
