UTEC, the university of engineering and technology – the same school in peru responsible for developing the world’s first potable water-producing billboard – have installed an air-cleaning billboard in downtown lima. situated within a construction site, the purifying structure filters the air as efficiently as 1,200 trees – which is the equivalent to approximately 3.5 million cubic feet ( 100,000 cubic meters ) of fresh oxygen per day. the technology attached to the billboard absorbs the pollution, filters it using thermodynamics through a specially designed water system, which then returns pure O2 to the atmosphere at up to a five block radius.
