designed by italian architect renato peron, the ‘origami eco residence’ uses biocompatible materials, low energy production, and renewable sources to minimize its ecological footprint in the climate of brazil. taking the japanese practice of origami into consideration, the palm fiber roof assumes the shape of zoomorphic forms, folding and sloping its solar panels in relation to the sun’s path throughout the day. the rest of the structure consists of eucalyptus and reforested wood, which work as an irrigation system directing the circulation of water towards the septic tank and water filter.
