spanish practice josé ramón garitaonaindía de vera has recently completed the ‘arteixo sport center’ in arteixo, spain. bound by a road, river and municipal pool, this facility is positioned within an urban area and defines itself with a delicate band of rainbow shades which gradually change as it wraps the top half of the building. painted wooden boards and faced with U-glass and illuminated from the internal cavity at night to project the colors during events. a structural framework of box beams running along the length of the basketball courts and running track opens the interior to northern daylight while southern light filters through the translucent polycarbonate for a soft glow.
