lacroze miguens prati: la pietraia, house in tajamares

argentinian firm lacroze miguens prati have completed ‘la pietraia’, a single family residence near the atlantic ocean in tajamares, uruguay. a thin 36 meter long concrete slab forms the roof of this residence, connecting the distinctive volumes beneath it. contained within wooden boxes, the kitchen and dormitories flank a unified living and dining area. enclosed with glass, the common areas open towards the countryside to the west and the sea to the east.

the dwelling is terraced into the landscape revealing a low-lying white structure, while the opposing elevation is mediated with a series of stone walls with the sloped terrain. within a grove of slender eucalyptus trees, a glass cube above the kitchen serves as a beacon, immediately showing recently arrived inhabitants the warm and active state of the heart of the home. the wooden dining table and chairs were made custom made locally. cement stucco surfaces internal partitions, ceilings and floors with accents of wood carpet.
