‘can you imagine a film about chicago without a gun?’: this image of a gangster-movie

is the one that 65 year old welsh film director peter greenaway uses to describe the meaning
of the creation of a new museum in milan. greenaway is in charge of creating a route made up
of images to tell the story of olivetti, the vespa and of other objects of design that have become
part of italy’s cultural identity.
‘what is italian design?’. the director of the museum, silvana annichirico, explains that in 2009
the new theme will be: ‘the relationship between art and design’, which will be prepared by
a new scientific committee and will be mounted anew.
work inside the triennale, which started in 2004, is still underway and a total of 13 million euros
has been earmarked for the museum: they have been given by the event’s foundation, by the culture ministry,
the region of lombardia, the province and municipality of milan and by other companies.
the museum will also have the first national laboratory for the restoration of modern artefact in italy.
