japanese designer yusuke seki has sent us images of the third location of ‘papabubble – the candy shop‘, now open in yokohama, japan. the design resembles a laboratory to show off the hand made experimental sweets. the design creates a strong correlation between inside and outside which focuses on the physical territory of the illuminated the space. the materials express this integrated cross over environment as the same tile on the exterior is used for the interior wall to maintain an authentic facade. spanish designer jaime hayon decorated the space by adding a stronger sense of character and identity. typically, ‘papbubble’ stores use laboratory tools to demonstrate the process, but here the space is detailed with windows and utensils. hayon also designed the the bottles which were influenced by the performance by the artisans. the one-off originals are made by massimo lunardon from venice, italy. the crystal glasses are colored through a range of liquid used to tint the candies, differentiating the store from other branches all over the world.
