‘stuck chair’ by oato design studio

the concept behind the ‘stuck chair’ is simple. taking apart the components of an archetypical chair, oato design studio of the netherlands wanted to create a seating object in which the structural elements appear as if they have simply been stuck together. constructed predominantly from oak wood with a powder-coated steel backrest – so that it won’t loose shape when force is applied – the legs are arranged in an ‘X’ formation, connecting upwards through the seat to hold the metal element in place in such a way that the chair rests requiring no additional supports – thus the individual parts have their own role in the overall function and stability of the design.
