‘blauwe huisje’ by odrada burghoorn  oerol festival, terschelling, netherlands

housed in a cottage that balances on the gabled roof, the camera obscura by odrada burghoorn is designed as the prototype of a home – with plans decided by a small child’s square drawing with a triangle as a roof. when entering the house, the visitor finds himself in a dark room where, after a few minutes of getting used to the lack of light, users will see an image of the outside world projected upsidedown.

besides being a visually fascinating phenomenon, the camera obscura makes the visitors more aware of their surroundings. built with water resistant plywood on a steel frame, the natural projection results in a precious and fragile aesthetic effect.
