swiss studio L3P architekten has recently completed two single-family ‘semi-detached houses’ in ennetbaden, switzerland. based on a skewed square footprint, the mass contains several cuts that create shared spaces and opportunities for a dynamic program. a walkway connects the ground floor with the garden as well as entrances. exterior rooftop gardens provide a social area for each family. the polychromatic exterior surface is a six millimeter brown plaster interrupted by differently sized and placed windows in yellow or white aluminum frames. a central fire-rated staircase services both dwellings. exposed concrete floors and ceilings with white walls and sections of oak parquet.
