nestled on a hillside in the port town of bodrum, turkey, the brand new mandarin oriental resort has opened and it is the first of its kind in europe by the high-end hotel group. designed by scape design associates, the london-based landscape architects is responsible for reshaping the 60 hectare site situated on the northern side of the peninsula. the luxurious retreat features numerous leisure facilities, restaurants, spas and 109 deluxe guest rooms and suites, all of which is framed by the surrounding scenic landscape and shoreline. working alongside the existing topography, which is already home to olive groves and a pine forest, the practice has weaved its surroundings to the buildings and each villa, creating an individual landscape story to each area of the resort.

private terrace and garden with infinity pool
each facility is uniquely crafted to its specific location on the site, from the infinity pools, private cabanas to the restaurant and beach bar, they all have unencumbered views of the aegean sea. the foliage and landscaping around the hotel is an important factor for the blending in architecture and land. trees and plants were specially imported and brought to be planted in the gardens to enhance the vibrancy and texture seen in the spa garden, where groupings of sculptural cypress trees and jasmine creepers fill the air with fragrant floral scents as you enter. by creating a seamless transition between the built and natural environment, the brand new mandarin oriental evokes the sense of belonging, where the retreat will naturally grow together over time, like an ancient settlement on the shores of the sea.
