ronan + erwan bouroullec debut belleville collection for VITRA

developed for VITRA, the ‘belleville’ collection by ronan + erwan bouroullec has been conceived as a versatile family of seating and table pieces that can be used in a variety of environments — from indoor to outdoor, to private and public situations.

the ‘belleville’ long rectangular table with armchairs

the stackable ‘belleville’ chair and armchair are characterized by a one line frame rendered in black polyamide. this lightweight structure links the supporting feet to shells of different materials: including, polypropylene, ultrathin plywood (4.5mm), and upholstered fabric or leather; continuing into the armrests and backrests of the seating object. this hybrid construction sees the design working well in its intended location. on one hand the polyamide version is suitable for heavy-duty outdoor spaces, while the upholstery and plywood options fit well into the softer landscape of the domestic interior.

the chairs are accompanied by round or rectangular tables that feature black powder-coated aluminium legs, combined with tops available in a range of laminate wood or stone surfaces.

the furniture is intended for diverse environments, including indoor and outdoor, public and private spaces

in its entirety, the ‘belleville’ family has been envisioned with proportions that offer visual balance, while also answering to the demands of production technology. the collection debuts at the 2015 salone del mobile.
