etc.etc. studio assemble naïve chair for emko at maison et objet
the starting point of etc.etc. studio‘s ‘naïve’ chair was the notion of designing one that could be drawn by a 4 year old – a seat and six sticks. produced by lithuanian furniture brand emko, ‘naïve’ is a composition of six equal parts that interchangeably function as legs and a backrest that are screwed into a scooped ash seat pan; with the simplified assembly making it easy to manufacture and transport more efficiently in a flatpack format. the challenge was to calculate the right lengths of these elements, and arrange them in precise angles in order to provide a welcoming posture and pleasant sitting position. a soft ‘pullover’ can be tugged over the backrest for more comfort and is available in six colors, or natural oiled ash. these can be mixed to create a range of seating with different color combinations.
the ‘naïve’ chair is being presented at maison et objet 2015 from september 4th to 8th.
