francois roche and camille lacadee of new territories have launched a kickstarter campaign to fund MMYST — a hybrid architecture for humans and birds in a tropical environment. located in krabi, thailand, the scheme is intended to encourage reciprocal benefits between its inhabitants.
influenced by robotic fabrication methods, and using 3D printing technology, the building is made from a steel structure with a catenary mesh geometry joining all external surfaces. large windows are made from silver-coated laminated glass that protects inhabitants from UV rays, while simultaneously reflecting the landscape. only half of the windows are fully transparent (human zones), the other swiftlet caves are extremely dark, coated to keep the shadow atmosphere of a cave including humidity. a robotic extruder fixed on a scissor lift will be used to make the lava-like skin.
