porsche officially premiered the 2017 ‘911 turbo’ at the 2016 NAIAS. 

before turbo chargers were even a method to make everyday fuel efficient engines, porsche had the outperforming ‘911 turbo’. the crown jewel of the german carmakers lineup, the next generation ‘911 turbo’ is more powerful, wrapped in a sharpened design and improved features. the series will be available in both coupé and convertible versions. the bi-turbo six cylinder engine in the ‘911 turbo’ with 3.8 liters of displacement now has a power output of 540 hp. this power gain was achieved by modified inlet ports in the cylinder head, new injection nozzles and higher fuel pressure. the ‘911 turbo s’ now develops 580 hp thanks to new turbochargers with larger compressors. 

following strict tradition, the 2017 ‘911 turbo’ adopts significant characteristics of the design of today’s ‘carrera’ models, supplemented by typical special features. the front end with side air blades and laid out narrow LED front lights with double fillets give the front end a wider look in combination with the additional fin in the central air intake. in a side view, the high-performance sports car boasts 20-inch wheels. the door handles north come without plastic shell inserts and the rear body was also thoroughly reworked. the exit openings for the exhaust system at the rear as well as the dual tailpipes were redesigned. the rear lid grille now features three parts – the right and left sections have longitudinal openings and in the middle there is a separate cover for optimized air induction for the engine.

overall the new porsche 2017 ’911 turbo’ raises the astounding driving performance, while further reducing fuel consumption. the sports car sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 330 km/h. nevertheless, the model only consumes 9.1L/100 km due to further advanced electronic engine and transmission mapping. will these kind of statistics, porsche plan to bring turbo charging to forefront of high-performance driving.
