paco santamaria is a spanish artist that creates sculpture-watches as a testament of the harmonic relationship between time, objects, and the shapes that surround us. his timepieces encourage the viewer to solve riddles by participating in a conversation with the objects, understanding where they come from, what they used to work for, and why now they are being presented with a time measuring function. the ‘pacotime’ collection includes buttons, razorblades, spoons, scissors, dices, and some other curious objects.

‘sixty minutes, sixty blades’
when asked about his work, the artist comments, ‘what does pacotime mean? two decades after the birth of the collection, pacotime remains a mystery that each person must solve on their own, an imagination exercise, a door half-open that needs only to be pushed… and after that, everything is possible. time is a question, the way to represent it is a condition, and the answers are sometimes dramatic while other times they are filled with irony and humor.’

‘take it slowly’

‘cutting edge watch’

‘dice for your life’
