suppose design office has designed a shingle-cladded home located in the japanese city of anjo where it fosters a rich relationship between the internal and external boundaries. accommodating a family of five, the building comfortably facilitates their day-to-day inside and outside activities.

the large timber roof frame features openings that bring light and greenery in

the framework is constructed from timber, with the large pitched roof punctuated with openings that allow greenery and trees to peak through, and natural light to enter. this distinctive feature provides the children with a safe environment to play in. ultimately this spatial program has become a space used for eating, reading and relaxing because of its seamless connection to the house’s living areas.

the partially sheltered outside area has provided the family with a seamless external space for different activities

raised concrete slabs on the patio define this outdoor space with the same material continued within the two-storey dwelling. ‘in japan, a garden is for appreciation. however, this enclosed garden is used like a room. with an outdoor kitchen, we incorporate this special activity of dining outside and has become part of their everyday routine.’ comments suppose design office
