AL_A to reimagine galeries lafayette department store in paris

it has been announced that london-based firm AL_A will redesign the ‘cupola’ building within the renowned galeries lafayette department store on boulevard haussmann, paris. led by architect amanda levete, AL_A’s winning proposal will see the remodeling of 40,000 square meters of the store’s footprint to create a visionary metamorphosis of the main building to reflect on tradition and modernity. still in its early stages, construction is due to begin early 2017 with its completion will establish a dynamic shopping experience with architecture as the focal component.
