bloomsky, a weather technology company, has released two new products, ‘SKY2’ and ‘storm’, to create the first and only complete weather camera system. the system features a main device ‘SKY2’ and the accessory ‘storm’. SKY2 is the newest version of their SKY1 that features an HD fish-eye camera to track the movement of the sky. in addition to tracking the cloud movement by taking snapshots every 5-minutes, SKY2 also has sensors embedded that provide accurate microclimate weather data.

the 170° range of the fish eye camera captures stunning images of the sky every 5 minutes
created to work in conjunction to ‘SKY2’ is ‘storm’, a wind and rain sensor that measures UV, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation. ‘storm’ works only with the all new ‘SKY2’ and existing ‘SKY1’ devices only. the weather data derived from the two devices can also be used to set up your smart home. it works with ifttt, smart things, nest, and more.

bloomsky designed the ‘SKY2’ and ‘storm’ to be weatherproof. it can survive the cold winters of minnesota to the hottest conditions of arizona. ‘SKY2’ features a spherical shape that is wind-resistant. both of them are also designed to work with a custom solar panel for continuous data collection and convenience.
bloomsky’s complete weather camera system is now available on kickstarter here.

the images collected over the course of the day is generated into a beautiful time-lapse that tells a story of the sky

SKY2 is able to survive the harshest winters and hottest summers with its high quality and durable construction

SKY2 has a camera, precipitation sensor, barometric pressure sensor, radiation shield, temperature sensor, and humidity sensor

STORM is a new accessory that adds on to the SKY2

STORM measures wind speed, wind direction, UV, and precipitation

precipitation is measured using a tipping bucket and the anemometer design was changed over and over to ensure wind speed accuracy

pairing with the two devices is the BloomSky app that provides all the data you need
