jia roy redefines home furniture for chinese youth
the collection promotes well-being, nostalgia, and a sense of freedom within the living space.
china-based designer, jia roy, has created an exclusive set of home furniture for young chinese consumers. the concept of her work promotes well-being, nostalgia, and a sense of freedom within the living space.

return to nature: memories of the countryside
in the city, citizens lead hectic lifestyles because of their jobs and daily commute from/to work. most of them were also forced to leave the countryside, where they were born and raised, to make a living in the urban metropolis. jia roy thus strongly believes that young consumers’ homes should be a place of comfort, relaxation and a reminder of joyful childhood memories.

bathroom, a more elegant take on everyday rituals
trying to find the right balance between cost of production and an elegant design, jia roy chose a thick wire as her main working material. the metal was carefully bent and shaped into different home objects: coat and bathrobe hangers, chairs, tea tables etc… the wire was also painted in different colors to provide a variety of impressions (relaxed, nostalgic, vibrant, studious etc…). additional materials such as leather, wood, cloth – and others – were included in the design to complete her furniture ‘youth’ set.

jia roy designed the bathrobe hanger in a ring, like a person’s shoulder (wire bending )

tea table can be a playful spot for pets

…or a support for paper towels

… or even turn into a planter for potted flowers, to decorate the desktop

the chairs also function as storage space to minimize the loss of personal belongings

a hanger crafted as a tree, reminding of a more natural state
