UK design practice, another studio, presents its latest creation ‘the timber tailor’ — an exclusive collection of wooden pendant lights. influenced by the craft of tailoring, each piece was constructed using pattern-cutting techniques on the wood veneer to create elegant and seamless structures. the timber tailor includes four striking and playful designs: yoke, ruffle, peak and puff.

mixing machine and handmade processes, another studio takes flat sheets of veneer which are cut, folded and formed into dynamic shapes. individual pieces of wood veneer are repeatedly arranged into patterns to augment the beauty of the natural grain — which is then laminated unto a fabric backing. the final outcome creates polygonal wooden forms that imitate the shape of the structural body.
ruffle and peak
the signature piece is yoke, a large boxy-cut with a repeated geometric check pattern –made with natural cherry wood. the pendant light is finished with an elegant, wide pleated paper trim, hung from the inside of the piece. measuring 60cm in diameter, it is becomes a ‘statement’ object for any room.

ruffle is a noble cone-shaped shade; the cherry wood body has a directional pattern leading upwards to meet the grey pleated collar — seamlessly blending with the natural wood color tone.

the peak pendant includes a contemporary chevron pattern detail, positioned at the top or base. a fun pleated headdress tops the shade and is available in a variety of bold colors to match different interior settings.
the puff pendants are shorter versions of the peak shades, designed particularly for clustered displays or for multiple hanging. the refined designs are available in two decorative inlaid patterns, both topped with a pleated fabric fan.
