imm cologne: small enough for indoor use but large enough to fit a miniature garden, design house stockholm presents the ‘greenhouse’ terrarium at the imm cologne 2017 furniture fair. designed by bangkok-based creative studio atelier 2+, it is an elegant object with artistic ambitions, appearing like a sculpture that acts as a platform for nature. this aspect is crucial to the idea behind the project, which aims to rejuvenate developments within the field of green plants and the home.

displaying great craftsmanship, design house stockholm’s ‘greenhouse’ promotes cultivation and caring as even after construction, the garden still needs to be looked after and tended for. on show at the imm cologne 2017, it is made from lacquered solid ash timber with panes of glass, and a planting tray constructed from galvanized metal. this tray can be accessed by raising the glass pane hatches and securing them like you would for a window in a traditional greenhouse.
