prague designblok 08: lucis / Corian® by Dupont™

also featured as part of the crème de la crème projects was lucis and Corian® by Dupont™. czech lighting manufacturer lucis, displayed a collection of new floor and table lamps. together with Corian® by Dupont™ they also exhibited the results of ‘lights for the future’, a competition which was run for design students from the czech technical university. the project brief was to design a lamp made of Corian® which either used as a three-dimensional object (for floor, ceiling, walls) or as a portable light source. one of the winners was cocoon, a series of three lamps by tomáš stránský, martin rezek, vojtěch geryk of ateliér sféra. ribbons of Corian® are twisted and shaped into abstract, bulb-like forms with light passing through the open spaces.
