dixon’s ‘BUMP’ at maison & objet is an exercise in the manipulation of conical, spherical and tubular shapes. the craft of double walled glassmaking, combined with these geometries, generates surprising forms that play with laters, transparency and translucence. the ‘BUMP‘ family is made of borosilicate, a heat-resistant glass commonly found in science labs and usually seen in a colorless state. here, the material’s rare translucent pinks and smoky black hues are highlighting, and have been and manipulated into delicate shapes. mouth-blown into an engineered graphite mould, the resulting forms are light weight, durable and able to withstand high heats.
