seemingly floating on the edge between the island and the water below, the main residence – the massaro house – was built in 2008 from frank lloyd wright’s final plans. the building stays true to its original design, albeit with a helipad on its roof, and uses natural materials that are characterized in wright’s work. its 5,000 square-foot of space, encompassing six bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, does so with a vast expanse of stone, cement and mahogany.

it is actually petra island’s 1,200 square-foot cottage that was designed and built by the renown american architect in 1950. frank lloyd wright’s master plan was never completed at that time, after the client’s finances wouldn’t support any further work. jump forward to 2008 and again to 2017, the architectural masterpiece had been fully finished and is now for sale along with the whole 11-acre island.
