designbygemini paints palm trees in millennial pink at milan design week
the studio founded by italian twin sisters takes over milan with a glamorous fever.
the ‘millennial pink room’ installation, due to its strong appeal and attractiveness, has become a true instagram magnet at this year’s milan design week. designbygemini, a creative studio founded by italian twin sisters elena and giulia sella, focusing on the merge of design and the digital, has created this eye-catching installation aimed at the millennial generation, in form of an immersive room, designed as an instagram set.

the 15 sqm room with a vintage allure, featured furniture pieces, such as the 60s deck chairs and a mid-century sofa, accompanied by a rotary phone and designbygemini’s breakfast cups with ‘#love’ print. the custom-made houndstooth pattern carpet the studio designed for ecocontract covering the entire floor has created an effective contrasting element. the antique-framed ‘dream’ mirror decorated with swarovski crystals, contributed to the interaction of guests with the space. there’s more to come with the glamorous fever: sella sisters even painted natural palm trees in the color of our age.

the main attraction was the flashing pink neon on the wall, specially created for the room, in form of a speech bubble and a heart — the language of social media. the millennial pink room has received a lot of promotion through shares on social media, especially instagram, by the use of the hashtag #millennialpinkroom, that the users were encouraged to include in their posts.
