ADAL weaves new furniture from natural forms and materials at milan design week
the five piece furniture collection -- called ‘look into nature’ -- draws from the natural world, both in materiality and in form.
during milan design week 2019, japanese brand ADAL will ‘look into nature‘ with its latest collection of furniture pieces that draw from the natural world, both in their materiality and form. the collection, which includes a line of lounge chairs, benches, sofas, side tables and multi-use modular panels, is made mainly in igusa – the traditional panels in woven rush, with which tatamis are made – in combination with wood, and, in smaller parts, steel.

rakusui is a bench with backrest, made of igusa and steel
founded in 1953, ADAL embodies the connection of japanese design with natural, functional and versatile pieces defined by their elegant minimalism. the brand’s latest collection further emphasizes this relationship by drawing from the natural environment in its forms, including waterfalls, caves, and the mountains’ sense of quietness, as well as in its materials with the predominant use of igusa.

rakusui can be used separately both as a bench and as a decorative panel
‘look into nature’ will be presented at superstudio più, in milan’s tortona district, from 9 to 14 april 2019. ADAL’s stand will reproduce the pleasant feeling of being surrounded by nature through a selection of colors, lighting, and sound effects. as a preview of the collection, scroll down to explore each of ADAL’s new designs.
