keisuki fujiwara design offices interior for ‘sora’ beauty salon, consists of a space made primarily of 12 different kinds of wood vinyl sheets. the variation of woods give the effect of a gradation in the salon as if it is changing color throughout the day. this gradation is meant to be a metaphorical symbol for the changing weather – rain, clouds, snow.

the mirrors within the salon are all the same size of the ‘mona lisa’ by leonardo da vinci. they are meant to symbolize to the customer looking into the mirror that perhaps they see a newer, more attractive figure within, reflecting back at them. the water basin within the front entrance creates lighting drops of water, making ripples and little sounds to create a relaxing atmosphere for the customer sitting in front of the mirror.

within the main private styling room, a louver-partition constructed by many sticks of wood, which appear to be randomly placed actually form the word ‘sora’. the floors and steel sash of the existing construct have been used for about 20 years, and are kept just as in their original form to give some historical presence to the salon.
