artecnica has a new collection that has been born out of recycling advertising billboards. impressed by artecnica’s design w/ conscience program, TBWA, the advertising agency for such companies as apple, adidas and absolute vodka, requested artecnica to exclusively recycle their large format billboards into products. after a 2-year design process, they are presenting the first two commercial products of the billboard collection.

‘stretch bags’ are die cut from 100% recycled billboards, transforming colorful advertising campaigns into a clever bag. the design is drawn from the strength and symmetry of patterns found in nature and has the ability to hold up to 75lbs. the 2-D design lies flat but then stretches into a 3-D structure when in use – a large bag with the smallest amount of waste. the solution is a bag developed without needing, stitching, gluing or folding. it is available in varying colors of billboards or natural brown leather.

the second product of the billboard collection is ‘cases’, which are fashioned after the simplicity of traditional envelopes. they are crafted from sustainable cork and lined with billboard advertisements. the three different sizes allow for versatility. the small and medium size can fit into a small clutch or bag, while the largest one can easily be used on its own.
