designer's own words:

the belt is made of injection molded polycarbonate, while other parts are chrome finished brass. both the left and right handles are made with the same set by rotating specific parts. the system is simple to assemble and caters for a single production run instead of the normal two, also the customers need not be concerned with proper orientation when purchasing.
